Moving to Virginia for My Niece

When my niece asked me if I would move closer to her, it did not take me long to think about it. I was living in Pittsburgh at the time, and I had no family left around me since my parents had moved to Florida the previous year. I did see my niece still, but it was not as often as I would like since we were nearly six hours apart. She told me that there are some really nice Lynchburg apartments that she had found online, and it did not take me long to find out that they really were nice.

It is not that I was discounting her opinion. I just knew that a child’s impression of a nice apartment was probably different than mine, but I should have known that she would find a really nice place. The bonus in this apartment complex is that it is only about five minutes from where she lives. To be able to see her every day if I wanted to rather than just a couple of times a year or on video chat meant the world to me. I was able to apply for an apartment right there on their website, which was a very easy process.

I knew that I wanted a two bedroom apartment, because I had a feeling I was going to become her unofficial babysitter. She is only ten years old, so it will be a while before she can stay on her own. I was hoping that she would stay with me a lot actually, because she is like the daughter I have never had. When she found out that she was going to have her own room in my new apartment, she was over the moon about it. I have to admit that I was, and still am, over the moon about all of this myself.
